Our commitment to human rights extends to the thousands of workers worldwide who make our products. We know that to be proud of the products we put our name on, we cannot be indifferent to the conditions in which they are made. In 1992, we were the first in our industry to adopt worldwide PRODUCTION STANDARDS, based on international principles, mandating the fair treatment of workers in the independent factories that make our products.
Turning a code of conduct into reality is a complex process and our COMPLIANCE PROGRAM approaches the challenge of ensuring our suppliers comply with our code of conduct on several fronts - through our own company efforts, through industry-wide initiatives and through collaborations that have the trust of workers.
On a day-to-day basis Reebok human rights, sourcing and production staff work together as partners to meet business needs, to prevent our products from being manufactured in substandard conditions, and to improve the lives of workers in our SUPPLY CHAIN & OPERATIONS.
Workers in our suppliers’ factories are at the heart of our program. Our worker communication system FOR WORKERS allows them to report their concerns on factory conditions.
We’ve also always believed in addressing our programs honestly and openly and in collaboration with others. We DIALOGUE WITH STAKEHOLDERS on difficult issues and to learn, share and inform the process for making sustainable improvements in factory conditions.
Compliance is an ongoing process. While we take pride in our accomplishments so far, our work is far from over. As we continue to improve conditions in factories, we are still faced with difficult challenges. These challenges do not deter us; they strengthen our resolve to improve conditions for workers. |
