OUR BUSINESS PRACTICES > OUR COMPLIANCE PROGRAM > WAY FORWARD

REEBOK'S STRATEGY FOR 2006
• Create a more effective, results-oriented program that can serve our business and benefit the workers who make our products

• Enhance the capacity of factories to be able to improve compliance

• Engage in initiatives that give a greater voice to workers

• Drive further business integration of human rights principles

Whenever possible we will accomplish these in collaboration with others in our industry, governments, NGOs and other institutions that share accountability for protecting human rights.

Our objectives for our larger human rights commitments in 2006 are to:

• Bring international attention to frontlines human rights issues and support the work of leading young defenders

• Engage global youth in the protection and promotion of human rights by presenting role models to inspire and educate

• Seek unique opportunities to fund human rights programs in our communities where we operate

HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN

OBJECTIVES: Education & Training
To enable our employees and business partners to institutionalize human rights compliance in factories by improving their knowledge and skills, resulting in measurable improvement in factory conditions.

PROGRAMS
• Explore options for a more systematic training program for manufacturers

• Extend education and training for Reebok human rights staff, sourcing managers, agents, factories and worker representatives

  OBJECTIVES: Factory Engagement / Assessment
To engage our business partners in quality assessments of their performance in achieving and maintaining Reebok’s Human Rights Production Standards, in order to identify factory and worker needs, and inform Reebok’s selection of business partners.

PROGRAMS
• Put into affect a program to review factory assessment efforts. Determine whether assessments are reaching targets

• Extend air quality testing. Roll-out of air testing manual, in collaboration with other brands, on best practices

• Continue to pilot S-Process for factory assessments to identify root causes of noncompliance

• Extend Reebok’s worker communication systems for reporting noncompliance to more regions

• Improve level and quality of field staff assessments and reporting

• Continue to use Fair Factories Clearinghouse to manage and share noncompetitive information on supplier lists and factory workplace conditions, in order to drive cost savings with reduced audits and improve workplace conditions

OBJECTIVES: Remediation
To drive timely remediation of all areas of noncompliance and ongoing improvements of workplace conditions.

PROGRAMS
• Apply lessons learned to smaller facilities and subcontractors deeper in the supply chain

• Drive field staff review of remediation efforts to determine where it has been unsuccessful, assess additional needs and to provide guidance to sourcing on factory ability and willingness to improve working conditions

• Increase timeliness, follow-up and verification of remediation

• Analyze current program and strategy for sanctioning factories for serious or repeated violations of compliance

OBJECTIVES: Capacity Building
To develop and implement programs, where possible, that improve the ability of workers and our business partners to take the lead in improving workplace conditions and that enhance the sustainability of improved workplace conditions.

To develop initiatives reflecting the factory compliance record, as well as the context of local law, culture and factory receptivity.

PROGRAMS
• Continue programs to build worker participation in the decisions that effect their lives. Where worker participation systems exist, build the capacity of worker representatives to identify and solve problems in conjunction with management

• Continue programs to build internal factory systems for informing workers of their rights and obligations.

• Continue programs to develop factory capacity for improving human resources systems as a means for promoting sustainable compliance

• Continue CPR program to address noncompliance across a country or region by guiding factories on the development of internal systems

OBJECTIVES: Independent Assessment
To fulfill the expectations of external stakeholders to demonstrate the quality and credibility of Reebok’s program.

PROGRAMS
• Continue to meet all FLA requirements as a participating company within set internal and FLA deadlines

• Participate in the pilot and roll-out, as needed, in the next generation of FLA monitoring. Focus on using shared resources to drive capacity building
