AIR TESTING
Since 1998, one or more worker exposure testing surveys have been conducted at thirty-one Reebok and Rockport footwear factories. Chemical exposure data has been collected on slightly fewer than 900 workers at 22 Reebok factories and more than 200 workers at 9 Rockport facilities. The trend towards improved air quality with successive testing and remediation cycles is evident. Greater than 80% of the monitored high risk workers in Reebok factories have exposures that meet our aspirational goal of EF < 0.5 (less than half of the acceptable exposure limit) by the third survey at these factories.

This finding is remarkable given our testing strategy. We select workers for initial testing which are considered to be at the greatest risk. Moreover, any groups of workers found to have insubstantial exposures in the initial survey generally are not selected for monitoring in subsequent surveys. This results in attention to only those tasks and groups of workers identified as being at the highest risk of exposure.
