LI DAN, CHINA Li Dan bravely documented the destruction caused by China’s AIDS epidemic and helps pressure the government to respond. Despite harassment, he works to help AIDS orphans who have been rejected by their communities.
RACHEL LLOYD, UNITED STATES Rachel works to rescue sexually exploited children in New York City, founded an organization that provides support to underage girls in the sex industry and lobbies for legislation to protect the rights of these vulnerable young people.
KHURRAM PARVEZ, INDIA Khurram defends human rights in war-torn Kashmir and works to encourage young people to pursue peaceful approaches to change. Although he has endured grave injury, he continues to advocate for human rights and for families affected by the violence.
OTTO SAKI, ZIMBABWE Otto advocates for human rights defenders facing harassment and arrest. Despite corrupt police and intimidated judges, he demands justice. When the regime savagely demolished their homes, Otto fought for protection of thousands of victims.
