CrossFit Invitational Gear Sparks Team Pride
The Reebok CrossFit Invitational showcases what is arguably the world’s highest level of CrossFit competition outside of the Reebok CrossFit Games.
It is an annual event – this year taking place in Melbourne on Nov, 5 – that brings the highest placing Games athletes back together for another set of unknowable tests.
What athletes do know upon entering the competition is that they will be competing on a team, alongside three of their countrymen, representing their home nations.
“Last year was my first time at the Invitational, and I am fired up to have been invited back,” says Pat Vellner, a member of the Canada Team.
“There’s something special about repping your country. All the gear has your country’s name on it, so in case you needed any added motivation, it’s written on the jersey right there for you.”

In fact, the Invitational collection is specifically designed to spark team pride. Every piece of athlete apparel has the team’s flag-inspired logo, and each team receives a different color jersey.
After six Games appearances, USA team member Scott Panchik will take the Invitational floor for the first time.
Although Panchik will be competing against Vellner, he echoes the same sentiment when it comes to the Invitational gear.
“It’s going to be a pretty special moment for me when I step out onto the floor and see the letters U-S-A across my chest,” says Panchik. “It’s a huge honor and it hypes me up just thinking about it.”
Reigning Fittest Woman on Earth and Australian-native Tia-Clair Toomey is equally hyped.
“The Invitational is definitely the most fun competition of the year,” Toomey says.
“Instead of competing against your friends, you’re competing with them. It takes the energy to new heights.”

“Now that the competition is in Australia, hopefully we’ll have everyone in the stands cheering for the Pacific Team, too,” she adds.
For those Aussie fans who will be in the stands, you too can rep your home team in green! Fan tees, which look similar to the athlete jerseys, will be available for purchase on site at the event, and are also available on Reebok.com for those tuning in from at home.
The two-hour competition will kick off at 4 p.m. AEST on Sunday, November 5. It will be streamed live on Games.CrossFit.com.
