Name: Aimee Lyons
Who are you in 90 characters or less? CrossFit Trainer and mother of two kids, 6 and 9 years old. Started CrossFit King of Prussia in 2008 and have grown the business from the ground up.
Why do you teach/train?
CrossFit and training has taken me mentally and physically to levels I never imagined and I take great pride and joy in passing that along to my clients and members at the gym. Consistent training promotes a disciplined lifestyle which in turn creates a sound healthy body and mind.
What classes do you normally teach / what is your training expertise?
I normally teach CrossFit Classes and do personal training at the Affiliate I own- CrossFit King of Prussia. I also work for CFHQ as a trainer on the Level1, Level2 and CrossFit Kids Seminar Staff, traveling and teaching new trainers the methodology of CrossFit.
How have you adapted your business to still inspire people at home?
I have adapted group classes as well as personal training to on online zoom format. I am also providing workouts daily along with warm ups and cash outs. I pre-record videos of the daily workout along with movement demos, warm-ups, cash-outs and positive messages. Once a week I also give the community some bloopers of the footage to make them laugh!
Are you currently offering virtual classes? If so, when and how can people join?
Yes, we are offering virtual classes via Zoom, we offer the meeting ID anyone is welcome, we have had past members and members from across the globe jump on the calls!
What advice would you give to other fitness professionals to get through these times?
Know your why and your purpose and you can overcome and bear any how. Continue to have a vision and goal of why you are doing this in the first place. Continue to inspire through teaching and offering free content to all who need it.
How can fitness professionals lift each other up right now?
We can lift each other up by jumping on zoom calls with each other, sharing ideas, best practices and joining forces to motivate the larger fitness community.
What is your favorite non-fitness outlet to cope with the current stress of the world?
I like to cook and make creative dishes from scratch…using meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit and little starch of course.
How are you giving yourself #permissiontopause?
I give myself permission to pause with my family each day, spending additional time with my kids teaching them new skills and the basics of life has been a refreshing pause from my typical hectic schedule. I also have enjoyed reading more picking up the stack of books that has loomed on my counter for months if not years.
