Gigi Hadid Knocks Out Negativity

Keeping a guard up is something Gigi Hadid is used to having to do. As an enormously successful international supermodel, it comes with the territory. But it also makes it presumably difficult to let people in.

People tend to assume they know celebrities based on what they’ve read or seen on TV, but that’s not real.

In the video above Hadid keeps her guard up (literally) while giving us the real insight into how easy it is for people to misjudge her and the expectations she combats daily.

“My favorite expectation to defy is when people judge me based on my job or the way I look,” she says while bobbing and weaving with the camera.

Hadid is the headliner of Reebok’s #PerfectNever campaign. The campaign celebrates imperfections and empowers women to rise above the expectations of outside critics, while also celebrating Reebok’s message of self-betterment.

In one of her earlier interviews with Reebok, Hadid talked about turning to fitness to better herself physically and mentally. While punching and jabbing at the camera in the video above, she gets real about what it takes to knock down expectations in her world.

“I just like proving them wrong and then leaving and they’re just thinking, ‘Oh, she was actually cool.’”

Hadid likes dispelling these myths and uses it as a motivator to continue to be confident in who she is.

The #PerfectNever campaign was a natural fit for Hadid, who lives under the scrutiny of the spotlight daily. While most people might assume she’s immune to the pressures most people feel, Hadid reminds us it’s quite the opposite.

“I definitely feel the pressure to please everyone because you’re just trying to make everyone happy,” she says.

Hadid spoke about how she blocks out the noise and pressure before she walks the runway in one of her most recent interviews with Reebok. Whether it’s the runway or a rare day off, Hadid chooses to focuses on the important things and has learned to find balance in the chaos.

“I think the most important part is making sure that you balance your own little universe and then proceed with life,’’ she says.

Hadid continues to knock down expectations people have of her whether it be in the gym or on the runway. She’s learned what it takes to survive in the spotlight and embraces who she is.
