Rae Sremmurd’s Tips on Fresh, Southern Style

Hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd are used to standing out in a crowd. This is due in large part because they’re usually the ones on stage performing in front of them. But even when they hit the streets, it’s all eyes on this dynamic twosome.

From their swag and attitude to their incomparable style, the brothers make sure their presence is felt wherever they go. Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi are known for incorporating wild patterns and bold choices into their signature looks.

What pushes them toward these bold choices? Their roots. In their hometown of Tupelo, Mississippi, the guys pulled together looks based on what they had and that allowed them to breakout from the norm and be uninhibited with their style choices.

“Where we’re from there aren’t a lot of options so what we had is what we made use of,” says Slim Jxmmi. “I wasn’t always fresh in high school I didn’t have to be because I was real confident.”

This process of piecing outfits together and turning it into a look allowed the brothers to grow their own individual styles apart from one another. Known for being pretty disruptive with their fashion, they still like to make sure their styles compliment each other, making for one killer entrance.

“Our styles coordinate is how it is. His style is fresh and then my style is a different variation of fresh and then they blend. When we get together it’s swag overload.”-Swae Lee

As the guys rock Reebok’s latest version of their classic kicks, the Workout Advance, it’s clear why they fit into their unique sense of style.

“My style is that if I like something I’m going to wear it. If it looks cool to me I’m going to put it on,” says Slim Jxmmi.

With a new H-strap design, the silhouette stays a step ahead of the trend rooted in unmatched heritage, sneakers made for those who dare to do things a little differently.

For Slim Jxmmi, when choosing his looks, it’s about putting your own spin on things and making it exclusive. Sometimes the most radical choices make for one hell of a look.

“We’re real animated people, so the way we dress is fresh. We might have colors, we might have poppin accessories, we might have some exclusive shoes or exclusive type of shirt or pants that you can’t get anywhere and that’s because we like exclusive things.”

From their southern roots to their ultra modern take on fashion, Rae Sremmurd takes a daring, fresh approach to the classics.

“Daring means reaching inside yourself, doing deep and getting the most extreme version of yourself and going for it.”-Swae Lee
