Who are you in 90 characters or less? I am a Boston based yoga & fitness instructor. My mission is to inspire yogis coast to coast through both my in-person & virtual classes.
Why do you teach/train?
I teach because community inspires me. I believe that when we come together we are able to break down barriers both physically & mentally.
What classes do you normally teach / what is your training expertise?
I’m an E-RYT 200 power yoga instructor & ACE GFI. I also am Yoga Sculpt certified. I teach yoga sculpt, HIIT, dance & yoga classes.
How have you adapted your business to still inspire people at home?
I offer Instagram Live classes Monday-Friday & I also just launched an online program called The Coastal Method Home Workouts which includes 30 class recordings across all of the class formats I teach.
Are you currently offering virtual classes? If so, when and how can people join?
Yes! Monday - Wednesday I teach Yoga Sculpt at 7:00 AM ET. Thursdays I teach Yoga Sculpt at 5:00PM ET. Fridays I teach Yoga Sculpt at 7:30 AM ET. I also teach a Stretch class on Wednesdays at 12:00PM ET & Sundays at 5:30PM ET that focuses on stretching & mobility. All of these classes can be accessed from my Instagram Live (@thecoastalyogi).
What advice would you give to other fitness professionals to get through these times?
Use this time to GO FOR IT! Whether that means trying virtual classes for the first time or getting a certification you’ve been wanting to do for awhile but you didn’t have time, now is the perfect time to step outside of your comfort zone.
How can fitness professionals lift each other up right now?
Boston instructors have been so awesome about coming together to support one another. We’ve all been tagging each other in our stories and recommending other classes to our followers to help spread the love. I’ve also been taking a lot of other instructors classes to show my support!
What is your favorite non-fitness outlet to cope with the current stress of the world?
Cooking! Making all of my meals from scratch has been an awesome way to destress. Usually I wouldn’t have the time to eat all of my meals at home and its been awesome to get back in the kitchen.
How are you giving yourself #permissiontopause?
Taking designated no screen time. I love the virtual community that we’ve created in the fitness world but I also enjoy taking a pause from social media to reset.
