Dress to Express
No matter your mood, manifest some chic looks through emotion.
We’ve gone through a rollercoaster of emotions this past year – from feeling optimistic at times to needing solace and actively looking for an outlet to express ourselves. What better way to do that than with fashion?
Expressing how we feel through what we wear is cathartic and creating space for expression leaves room to connect with yourself. That’s why Laura Lydon, Sr. Manager of Merchandising and Styling at Reebok, pulled together four looks based on emotions people have been feeling over the past year. Each look is centered around Reebok’s Club C Double Geo sneaker, meant for the independently minded who want to share who they are. The shoe is an evolved version of the classic Club C with a new upper and sleek silhouette.
Your clothes can speak for you, and Lydon shares styling tips for how each color-schemed look can make it work for you based on your mood. Check out the mood boards below so you can express yourself this summer.
After being stuck in a bubble for over a year, we are finally feeling optimistic for the future—weddings are happening, mask bans are lifting, and a sense of relief and optimism happily fills our veins.
This summer, outfit your optimistic mood with light and airy colors like pastel pink, whites and neutral shades of tans and greys (don’t forget to sprinkle in some simple graphics). Build your look around Reebok’s new platform Club C Geo in powdery pink for a blushing summer statement. Pair with a staple tank, graphic long sleeve and essential bike short for your go-to uniform, completing the look with a bag and printed ankle sock.
There has been no shortage of anger and passion during this overwhelming time we are living in. Channeling this energy into your outfit can give you a sense of self-expression and help relay your mood, all while making a fashion statement.
When you’re feeling passionate, tap into bright red shades, like this cherry red bra top, and compliment with black pieces in interesting fabric or materials, like a leather or a high shine, similar to this oversized pant. Complete your look with a boost of confidence in a black Club C Geo, and a graphic bag and sock.
Whether searching for wellness tips or scheduling a call with friends, finding compassion and comfort over the past year has become the norm. Oftentimes, comfort starts with what you’re wearing, and building that into getting dressed in the morning can instantly provide a sense of compassion and inspiration for the day—both for yourself and those around you.
Look to brighter colors in comforting fabrics for lifting your mood, as well as those around you, such as a seasonal solar gold ribbed bralette. Pair this pop of color back to cozy neutrals, like a Polar fleece zip up and fleece No Dye sweatpants. Elevate your look with this white Club C Geo and an earthy toned accessory, like this earth-toned pouch bag.
We’ve all been experiencing forms of isolation and solace, with limited social interactions and so much alone time. With more time spent connecting inward, whether it be meditating, puzzling or online retail therapy (hello matching track suits), we all have our own way of finding calm during the chaos.
To channel these inward feelings of solace into your look, try tonal outfitting in tranquil shades of blue, like our cropped cardigan and bike short combination. Breaking up the tone on tone with a light pink or neutral shade can help your look feel more balanced. Get grounded with our most classic pair of neutral Club C Geo shoes and top the look off with a neutral-colored hat.
